WHO WE ARE
The Wallace Group is a partnership created in 2004 by several leading UK universities to support sports development for young people in Zambia.
The partnership embraces:
8 UK universities (Bath, Cardiff Metropolitan, Durham, Loughborough, Northumbria, St Andrews, Stirling and Edinburgh)
The Perfect Day Foundation
Sport in Action.
WHAT WE DO
The Wallace Group aims to support the development of long-term mutually beneficial relationships between the UK and Zambia, whilst enhancing leadership skills and sports specific developments for Zambian young people, leaders and organizations.
Each summer the 7 universities of the Wallace Group team up to send students and staff members out to live in Zambia for 6 weeks, from the period of May-September. Working with Sport in Action, the student volunteers help to deliver development programmes to over 160,000 children each week.
HOW WE DO IT
Every year the Wallace Group supports the development of young people in Zambia in a number of ways:
Team Leader Training
Fundraising and Charitable projects
Drama and Singing Initiative programmes
Life Skills Education
Most of this support and development is undertaken as part of the 'Volunteer Zambia' project.
